Wrapsthetic co-founder Bernadette Hagans recently appeared on Ireland AM, bringing the story and mission behind Wrapsthetic to a national television audience. She also debuted our new kit, Gold Leopard.

During the interview, Bernadette spoke about how Wrapsthetic was created and why personal expression and representation of disability matter so much. As a cancer survivor and amputee, Bernadette has always believed that disabled aids should be more than just medical devices - they should feel personal, empowering, and reflective of the person wearing them.

Bernadette lost her right leg in 2018 after being diagnosed with synovial sarcoma, a rare cancer affecting the soft tissue around joints. Rather than hiding her prosthetic, she began customising it with colourful wraps and designs, turning it into something that expressed her personality and style.

That idea eventually evolved into Wrapsthetic.

Wrapsthetic creates removable wrap kits designed to transform disability aids from something purely clinical into something expressive and unique. The wraps are easy to apply, removable, and designed to give disabled users the freedom to change their style whenever they want.

Speaking on Ireland AM, Bernadette shared how the inspiration came directly from her own lived experience. After years of changing the look of her own prosthetic, she realised that many amputees wanted the same opportunity to personalise their limbs but didn’t have accessible options to do so.

Wrapsthetic was created to fill that gap.

During the Ireland AM segment, Bernadette also spoke about the growing community of disabled people who are embracing individuality and redefining what disability representation looks like.

For many people, disabled aids have historically been designed to blend in or remain unnoticed. Wrapsthetic challenges that idea by encouraging people to celebrate their disability rather than hide it.

Bernadette’s appearance on Ireland AM was an exciting moment for the brand, helping introduce Wrapsthetic to a wider audience and continuing the conversation around visibility, identity, and confidence for prosthetic users.

As Wrapsthetic continues to grow, the mission remains the same: to empower people to feel proud of their disability and to show that style, creativity, and disability can exist beautifully together.
